A photograph of a region of about 2 sq arcmin centered approximately on the radio position of the variable radio source CL 4 is presented which was reproduced from a Kron electrographic-camera plate taken through a standard V filter with an exposure time of 78 min. An optical counterpart of the radio source is identified on the basis of differences between the optical and radio positions. The optical object is shown to have an apparent V magnitude of about 21, and it is noted that CL 4 is at a distance of less than 1 kpc. This distance is taken as giving strong support to the previous suggestion that CL 4 is a member of a class of radio stars associated with supernova remnants.
