IT has recently been suggested1,2 that the star X Per (HD 24534) may be associated with the X-ray source 2U 0352 + 30. Other stars identified with X-ray sources are characterized by peculiar spectra with unusual emission lines and by variations in radial velocity which suggests that the sources are binary systems3,4. Because of this we obtained a series of 26 spectra of X Per (including 8 on one night) during the interval December 27, 1971, to March 30, 1972. Dispersions range from 6.5 to 30 Å mm-1, on IIaO, IIaF and IIIaJ emulsions.
