The Executive Council of the Astronomical Society of India is elected every three years. The members of the Executive Council for the current triennium (1997 - 2000) are : President : Dr. Ram Sagar, Uttar Pradesh State Observatory Vice President : Dr. Gopal Krishna, National Centre for Radio Astrophysics Immediate Past President : Dr. K. Kasturirangan, ISRO Headquarters Secretary : Dr. Dipankar Bhattacharya, Raman Research Institute Treasurer : Dr. G.C. Kilambi, Department of Astronomy Osmania University Joint Secretary : Dr. G.M. Ballabh, Department of Astronomy Osmania University Editor of the Bulletin : Dr. Vinod Krishan, Indian Institute of Astrophysics Councillors : Dr. Ashok Ambastha, Udaipur Solar Observatory Shri Piyush Pandey, M.P. Birla Planetarium Society Matters : Dr. A.V. Raveendran, Indian Institute of Astrophysics Dr. Somak Raychaudury, Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics The dates of the 20th ASI Meeting have now been fixed. The meeting will take place at the D.D.U. Gorakhpur University from 15th to 18th November, 2000. The first circular will be mailed shortly to the members and will also be posted on the Society's web page. Further information can be had from Prof. Maheshwar Misra, Head, Department of Physics, D.D.U. Gorakhpur University, Gorakhpur - 273009. The Scientific Organising Committee will be chaired by Prof. K. P. Singh, Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai - 400 005
