Quasars: Superluminal Motions

Scientific paper

A mathematical method is presented of describing the trajectories of the superluminal knots in 3C 345. It can describe both the helical motion of the inner knots and the linear motion of the outer knots. This method may be useful for describing the motion of superluminal knots in other compact radio sources (for example in PKS 0528+134) and for investigating their intrinsic flux variations.
