OSS provides individual researchers with a variety of funding opportunities to develop education and public outreach (EPO) programs. These include grants programs associated with observatory calls for proposals (e.g., Hubble Space Telescope and Chandra Cycle EPO), NASA's Research Opportunities in Space Science (ROSS) research announcement, and the Initiative to Develop Education though Astronomy and Space Science (IDEAS) grants program. OSS's unique way of funding E/PO presents a number of interesting opportunities and challenges for both scientists and educators. We will discuss some of these issues using our experience with the development of "Touch the Universe - A NASA Braille Book of Astronomy" and our work as OSS broker/facilitators in assisting other scientists and educators in the development of their programs.
