Scientific paper

We have studied the star formation vs. environment connection of local
LIRGs by characterising their environment using number densities of
galaxies as well as halo masses. It is found that LIRGs preferentially
live in group environments and that they also exhibit a relation where
their star formation rate increases with their environmental density.
