We report high resolution spectroscopy (R=30,000) monitoring of Herbig Be star LkHα 234 over a time line of 30 days during October-November 2003. The observations were made using the High Resolution Spectrograph (HRS) at the 9.2m Hobby-Eberly Telescope. During this time period of observations the Hα equivalent width varied from +3Å to -50Å in just 7 days and it continued to rise up to -100Å before it decayed to -74Å. During the same period the HeI 5876Å line also varied from very broad absorption to mild emission (filling up the absorption line). Some of the forbidden nebular emission lines also showed an increase in line intensity correlating with the double peaked Hα emission line. We interprete the Hα and HeI line profile variability as due to accretion of gas on to the star. We present a photoionizing model for the circumstellar environment of LkHα 234.
