We utilize the archives of Nasa's Chandra Observatry to search for core collapse supernovae x-ray flashes. Hard x-rays from a Type II Supernova 100 Mpc away produce a 0.003 photons s-1 cm-3 keV-1. This is many orders of magnitude above the ACIS detection threshhold. We estimate that supernovae out to a look back time 70 percent of the age of the universe can be detected, but due to the narrow field of view we expect Chandra's archived observations of deep fields to contain only 1 or 2 supernova x-ray flashes.
We discuss the scientific merit and feasability of identifying supernovae x-ray flashes and other transients in deep fields using archived ACIS's or HRC observations.
