The paper proposes a universal method for solving the Lambert problem, involving the determination of a Keplerian orbit according to two positions and the time interval between them. The method involves the solution of a single equation with respect to a universal variable; this equation has a simple form invariable for all types of orbits and a number of complete revolutions. Formulas for calculating the parameters of the unknown Keplerian orbit are presented.
