We present preliminary results of hydrodynamic modeling of flares occurring in plasma magnetically confined in coronal loops, using the adaptive-mesh astrophysical hydrodynamic code FLASH. We also investigate the deviations from ionization equilibrium on the population fractions of the most abundant elements in astrophysical plasmas and the relevant consequences on observed spectra.
