The physical properties of MHD bending waves in an isothermal, compressible, low-beta, three-dimensional current sheet of finite thickness in which the magnetic field direction and strength varies are considered. The case of the wavenumber (k) to circular frequency ratio being greater than the Alfven velocity outside the layer (VA) corresponds to one-sided surface waves, and it is suggested that the heliospheric current sheet ripples are not this type of bending wave. The case of k/omega of less than VA describes the interaction of freely and obliquely propagating MHD waves with the layer, while the case of k/omega = VA describes an Alfven wave propagating parallel to but having no interaction with the layer.
