Polarization of GRBs and other relativistically moving sources (like AGN jets) may be produced either as synchrotron emission in ordered magnetic fields, or by inverse Compton scattering. I will discuss relativistic kinematics of polarization generation in these sources and how various GRB models account for high polarization of the prompt and afterglow emission. If the RHESSI result of high γ -ray polarization is confirmed, this would put strong constraints on emission mechanisms and GRB models.
