New measurements of the optical continuum radiation from the Crab Nebula
do not support a very rapid decline. An upper limit to the decrease of
0.5 percent per year and some evidence for a decrease of 0.3 percent per
year are obtained. This would indicate that the pulsar resupplies about
half of the energy lost in the expansion of the nebula.
