Open clusters present an excellent opportunity for studying the galactic variable star population, providing a stellar sample of commom age, distance and metallicity. We present a variability study of the old ( 1.6 Gyr), yet understudied, open cluster NGC 6939, as a part of the WIYN Open Cluster Study. Data were obtained with the 1.3-m telescope of the U.S. Naval Observatory, Flagstaff Station and with the WIYN 0.9-m telescope at Kitt Peak. As a result of our analysis, eight variable stars were found, seven of which are new discoveries. The lightcurves and the parameters of the stars are presented, and the analysis techniques are described. Part of this work was a Research Experience for Undergraduates project at Indiana University.
