We have constructed a composite extreme ultraviolet spectrum of AGN with z < 1 using archival spectra from The Far Ultraviolet Spectroscopic Explorer. This composite is significantly harder than the composite QSO spectrum calculated from Hubble Space Telescope spectra of QSOs with z > 0.33. We discuss how we use this composite spectrum in combination with an AGN luminosity function and a model for the opacity of the intervening intergalactic medium to calculate the AGN contribution to the low-redshift ultraviolet background radiation field.
