The connection of circumnuclear starburst rings to Seyfert nuclei has remained a controversial subject. Does nuclear activity have an impact on the properties of the ring, or vice versa, what is the role of the ring in regulating or even triggering nuclear activity? Our new arcsecond resolution VLA radio continuum observations show clearly the morphology of circumnuclear emission. A careful analysis of the radio continuum morphology and flux levels, together with spectral index information, is crucial for investigating the interplay (or lack thereof) between the nucleus and the circumnuclear ring. We have searched for radio jets which could trigger star formation in the circumnuclear ring of gas. We have also looked for differences in the ring properties between Seyfert and starburst galaxies. Our preliminary results suggest that there is no obvious direct connection between nuclear activity and star formation in the circumnuclear rings.
