Three types of periodic orbits of an earth satellite: (1) nearly circular orbits inclined to the equator, (2) noncircular orbits at critical inclination, and (3) noncircular orbits near the equatorial plane, are examined along with two types of quasi-periodic orbits of an earth satellite: (1) nearly circular orbits, inclined to the equator with librating ascending node, and (2) nearly equatorial noncircular orbits with librating perigee. Periodic solutions for the Hamiltonian system of equations of motion are obtained and the linear stability of these solutions is considered.
