It is noted that Saturn's equatorial zone showed some activity during the first months of 1978. Several white spots were noted by a number of European observers. In particular, from March 5 to April 19 of that year, a white spot having a rotation period of 10h17m38.1s (plus or minus 10s) was very well followed, being observed on 15 occasions. It is pointed out that this period is in the midrange of the periods (10h14.5m to 10h21m) observed for the equatorial zone on other occasions. Hence it is possible that differential atmospheric currents exist in the planet's equatorial zone.
