Exact expressions for the time-dependent, emergent intensity from a
semi-infinite atmosphere are obtained from the steady-state emergent
intensity for several source conditions at the free surface. For an
isotropic entering intensity, the exact solution is compared to several
approximate solutions found in the literature.
