The general properties of nearly-integrable differential systems are examined to prove the existence of periodic orbits for a particle around an oblate spheroid. In a fixed frame only periodic orbits for i equals 0 and i near pi/2 are observed, and the generating orbits are circles. In a rotating frame, three families of orbits are found, periodic orbits in the vicinity of the critical inclination, periodic orbits in the equatorial plane with eccentricity greater than 0 and less than 1, and periodic orbits for any value of the inclination if the eccentricity is equal to 0.
