A numerical study of the evolution of gas-dust envelopes around massive young stars is presented. It is found that the final mass of the star is determined by the efficiency of transfer of the radiant impulse of the surrounding gas-dust envelope. Simple conditions for the oscillatory stability of spherically symmetric accretion are obtained. In addition, it is shown that the spreading of the compact zone of ionized hydrogen occurs in a complex way. The interaction of the ionization front with the cocoon can lead to temporary suppression of the H II zone.
