The extinction coefficients Qext/α of three hydrous silicates have been obtained in the wavelength region of 7-400 μm by laboratory measurements. Their optical constants are deduced from the extinction coefficients using a dispersion analysis. The hydrous silicates have many absorption bands in the far-infrared region, in contrast to non-hydrous silicates.
