Over the past several years, it has been found that X-ray binaries containing a compact object can emit VHE gamma-rays (E>100 GeV). VHE-emitting binary systems remain rare, and the nature of the compact object is often not known. VHE variability is often tied to the orbit, allowing for observations of the interaction between, for example, pulsar and stellar winds during recurring conditions. Observations of VHE binaries can further our understanding of particle acceleration and gamma-ray production. We will summarize recent results on VHE-emitting binaries, with an emphasis on results from VERITAS, one of the most sensitive experiments for detection of VHE gamma-rays.
