We present identification of atmoic and molecular hydrogen lines shortward of 1200 A in the far ultraviolet in the spectra of two classical T Tauri stars, DF Tau and V4046 Sgr. These lines have not been observed in a protostellar/protoplanetary envelope and such observations have just recently become possible, thanks to the high sensitivity and very low background noise of the Cosmic Origins Spectrograph (COS) newly installed on the Hubble Space Telescope (HST). The molecular hydrogen lines below 1250 A are mostly Werner band lines, and we discuss their photoexcitation routes. A comparison of the spectra indicates that the observed lines are not common to all disks, possibly due to differences in disk inclination, ground-state H2 population, and shape of the pumping radiation field in the two objects. This work is supported by a NASA grant to the University of Colorado.
