SPICAV-UV on Venus Express is a UV spectrometer identical to SPICAM on Mars Express with a spectral range from 118 to 320 nm. This spectrometer can observe the Venusian Lyman-á emission at 121.6 nm resulting from scattered solar photons by the Venusian hydrogen atoms. The Venusian hydrogen corona has been shown to display a radial distribution with two scale heights, one is corresponding to the normal exospheric temperature and the other is generally attributed to a non-thermal population produced below the exobase. The first Lyman-á emission profiles derived during limb observations of the exosphere by SPICAV, showing these two scale heights will be presented and compared to previous observations. A first estimate of the exospheric temperature and hydrogen density deduced from these observations will be also given.
