Maps of stellar densities along the Galactic plane obtained from GLIMPSE agree with other studies in demonstrating that the Milky Way is a barred system, most likely containing a long thin bar. It is interesting to seek Milky Way analogs that might resemble our Galaxy in terms of the bar structure and other fundamental properties, such as rotation speed, as these galaxies can provide further insight into the characteristics of our home system. This talk will review properties of barred galaxies that might resemble the Milky Way based primarily on examples of galaxies selected using data in publicly accessible archives.
