In this paper, we propose a method to determine distances of Galactic planetary nebulae on the basis of a relationship between the central star mass and the nebular N/O abundance ratio. This relationship is used in combination with some basic parameters of the central stars, such as the lambda 5480 flux, surface gravity and visual magnitude in order to obtain distances to a sample of a hundred Galactic planetary nebulae.
