A complete and exhaustive overview of astronomy, celestial mechanics, theoretical and applied mechanics in Romania since the beggining of the XX-th century is given. Astronomy, cosmology, cosmogony and celestial mechanics are periodized in two parts (1900-1948) and after 1948.
Biographies and overview of research of 13 astronomers are given with as complete as possible bibliographies. Except N. Coculescu the book includes biographies and scientific research of most important astronomers in Romania since 1900 till 1970. A names index is given at the finish of the book, as well as a general bibligraphy of historical scientific interest.
