Contrary to predictions, no obvious correlation exists between the
degree of aqueous alteration defined by PSD-XRD modal mineralogy and
O-isotope compositions of CM chondrites. Heterogeneous hydrous
reservoirs and/or consumption of water by oxidation may explain these
data.
