A spaceborne VLBI station to characterize complex structures of H2O masers in the Milky Way, not resolvable from Earth, is proposed. The QUASAT satellite measurements could extend knowledge of the maser process by providing greatly increased resolution. Recent VLBI observations of the proper motions of H2O masers were used to determine distances to the sources. The increased angular resolution of QUASAT could be useful to increase the accuracy of the measurements and possibly to allow direct distance measurements to other galaxies.
