From October 1968 to January 1969 we observed photographically the Pleiades region obtaining a series of multiple exposure plates both in the blue and UV spectral regions. As expected, the UV material was considerably more efficient for stellar flare detection. We concluded from the analysis of the observations of the 112 flare stars known in the Pleiades, and following the suggestion by Ambartsumian, that the total number of possible flare stars in this 16 square degree region is of approximately 400.
