The bifurcation periods between different cases of mass transfer in massive close binaries are determined, taking into account mass loss and overshooting. Evolutionary computations are presented for 12-20-solar mass primaries, evolving through Case B of mass transfer. It is shown that a remnant after Case B with a given mass originates from a lower initial mass when overshooting is taken into account. The evolution of 20 and 40-solar mass primaries through Case A of mass transfer is presented. After core hydrogen exhaustion, the remnants after Case A of the 20-solar mass models evolve through Case B of mass transfer. The conditions for contact in the systems investigated are also discussed.
