The faint emission-line star Michigan 239 was observed in the regions of high galactic latitude where faint emission-line stars were not expected to occur. Michigan 239 is either abnormally underluminous, or is a type of object rare in the galactic halo. Consideration is given to the spectroscopic properties of Michigan 239, and it is noted that the star is either a moderately rare Population I star in or beyond the halo, or an extremely rare Population II star in or beyond the far halo. The conclusion is made taking into account the velocity of Michigan 239, that it may be a runaway Population I star in the Galaxy's halo.
