The paper considers the interaction between accreting intergalactic gas and the magnetic field of the Galaxy. It is suggested that a magnetosphere can form around the Galaxy given certain values of the Galactic magnetic field and the density of intergalactic gas. On the basis of observational data that indicate the possible existence of a flattened radio halo (Z less than 10 kpc), the model of a Galactic magnetosphere with an extent of 5-8 kpc is proposed. For this model the density of accreting gas and magnetic field strength are (1-3) x 10 to the 29th g/cu cm and (3-5) x 10 to the 7th Oe, respectively.
