Scientific paper

The paper derives nonlinear equations for gravitational potential in collisionless systems modeling galaxies. Solutions are obtained in the form of solitary waves, and the stability of these solutions is examined. The dependence of critical wavelength on the perturbation amplitude is determined in a classical Jeans problem framework (an infinite homogeneous universe) and in its two- and one-dimensional analogs for the collisionless case.
