New observations are presented of the outskirts of M33 and of the adjacent high-velocity hydrogen cloud. M33 has an H I tail which is probably a part of the warped hydrogen disk of that galaxy. The adjacent H I cloud has a southern extension but no material connection with M33. Various extragalactic hypotheses for the cloud are discussed in relation to the tail and warp of M33, but the cloud is probably associated with other high-velocity hydrogen clouds in this general direction.
