The X-ray emission from star forming regions in different types of galaxies is discussed. Special attention is paid to cases with an obvious discrepancy between model predictions and observed X-ray luminosities. A new solution of this problem, based on time dependent calculations of the X-ray emitting gas metalicity, is here given. Our results show that supernovae metal ejection leads to a high overabundance of the hot bubble interior, that allows for up to an order of magnitude higher X-ray luminosities compared with standard predictions.
