We propose to use ACIS-I images in combination with an existing weak lensing mass map to study intracluster medium (ICM) depletion in the complex, merging cluster Abell 1644. The differing collisional nature of the ICM and the dark matter can lead to significantly different distributions during mergers. The deep ACIS images will allow us to probe for faint X-ray emission from two apparently gas poor mass concentrations in the mass map. In addition, we hope to use the high resolution Chandra image to study the complex morphology of the ICM surrounding the central, giant elliptical. We will test whether the merging occuring on large scales has led to a flow of the central, cooling unstable ICM with respect to the central, giant galaxy.
