From the results of Ginga observations of the X-ray pulsar 1E1048.1 -
5937, combined with previous pulse period measurements, it is found that
1E1048.1 - 5937 has exhibited secular spin-down at a rate of 4.64 + or -
1.1 x 10 to the -4th s/yr. The possibilities that this source may be
either a Be star system or a low-mass X-ray binary are considered.
