The evidence indicating that the globular cluster system of the Galaxy consists of two separate subsystems, a slowly rotating halo and a rapidly rotating disk, is reviewed. In terms of kinematics, metal abundance, and spatial distribution, the halo and disk cluster populations are indistinguishable from the halo and thick disk stellar populations, respectively. A comparison of the globular clusters in the direction of the galactic bulge with the bulge stars suggests that in the mean the clusters are more metal poor. The implications that the characteristics of the disk and halo globular clusters have for the evolution of the Galaxy are briefly discussed.
