Consideration is given to energy transfer in stars by a dilute gas of elementary particles (cosmions or weakly interacting massive particles, an effect that has been proposed to solve the solar neutrino problem. Emphasis is placed on the limit of large mean free paths (Knudsen limit) where the particles orbit many times in the stellar interior between their interactions with nuclei. By means of a Monte Carlo integration of the Boltzmann collision equation, the energy transfer for simple model stars is computed and compared with an analytic approximation previously proposed by Press and Spergel (1985). The Press-Spergel approximation overestimates the energy transfer typically by a factor of a few. This factor is a sensitive function of radius, so that it is impossible to correct for it globally.
