The optical counterpart of the IRAS planetary nebula candidate
19170+1706 has been identified by comparing the red and infrared plates
of the Palomar Near Infrared Photographic Survey of the Galactic Plane.
Preliminary imaging and spectroscopy confirm that the object is a
heavily absorbed planetary nebula in a quite early evolutionary phase.
