A small sample of Galactic north pole F stars has been studied to see how the photometric metallicity [Fe/H] varies with age and distance from the Galactic plane.
A slight tendency to have a larger metal content is noticed for the younger stars but the "age-metallicity" relation may be due to either a limiting magnitude effect or to the confinement of spectral types. No strong gradient is apparent within ˜300 pc. This could be caused by the sample's Z(pc) - age profile, however.
The existence of old super metal rich stars in the F star range and their possible effect on the age-metallicity relation is discussed.
