In four clusters of galaxies having a head-tail radio galaxy, the dispersion of the velocities of the galaxies (sigma), and the difference between the velocity of the head-tail radio galaxy and the mean velocity of the cluster (delta V) have been measured. The four clusters are (1) A1452; (2) A2250; (3) a very small medium compact cluster surrounding the radio galaxy B2 1615+35, which has a tail 390 kpc long assuming H = 100 km/s per Mpc; and (4) a poor group surrounding the short tail radio galaxy B2 1621+38. In these four clusters the velocity of the head-tail radio galaxy is not exceptionally high. The generality of this result is examined by analyzing the distribution of delta V/sigma among the 16 head-tail sources for which delta V and sigma are known. It is found that the distribution of delta V/sigma is consistent with a normal distribution and is therefore not significantly different from the distribution of delta V/sigma that is expected for a set of 16 galaxies selected at random in their respective clusters.
