An attempt is made to report on spectroscopic imagery of the core and adjacent regions of the X-ray cluster of galaxies Klemola 44. A mean systematic velocity of 8288 km/s and a velocity dispersion of 351 km/s are obtained for 12 objects located within 50 arcmin of the cluster center. It is found that the cluster is rich in elliptical and lenticular galaxies but poor in spirals, that the central galaxies are apparently resolved into a cD galaxy of low surface brightness and a superposed elliptical of rather high surface brightness, and that the cluster exhibits a clump of faint galaxies. A test is performed for agreement between the observational data and an inverse-Compton model. It is shown that agreement within a factor of 2 can be obtained between the observed and the expected X-ray emission if the synchrotron electrons also interact with the microwave background.
