It is shown that the enveloping line in the period-amplitude diagrams for Population I Cepheids in the SMC and LMC differ significantly from each other. The LMC line is intermediate between that of the SMC and Galaxy/M 31. A correlation between this progression and the average metal abundancy in a stellar system is indicated. The Cepheids in the galaxy NGC 6822 are likely of the SMC/LMC type.
