It can be assumed for a number of reasons that the asteroids have changed little since the time of their formation. The study of asteroid composition can, therefore, probably provide information concerning the early conditions of the solar system. Approaches for the determination of asteroid diameter and mass are discussed. A knowledge of these two parameters provides information concerning the mean density of the asteroids. Relations between asteroids and meteors are also considered.
