We have measured the mass of the Andromeda galaxy (M31) using a Keck/DEIMOS kinematic survey of red giant branch (RGB) stars lying in a giant tidal stream from a previous galactic encounter. The most likely value of the total mass of M31 is M(total) = 6.5 × 1011 Mo out to 145 kpc. Further analysis of these data will yield robust constraints on the shape of the dark matter halo.
