We discuss geometric symmetry breaking in the Kaluza-Klein theory in a general setting, and analyze how higher-dimensional torsion could naturally generate spontaneous symmetry breaking without any ad hoc Higgs potential. The analysis shows that geometric symmetry breaking induces renormalization of the coupling constants and the magnetic moments of the charged vector fields already at the classical level. We also derive the cosmological potential of the Kaluza-Klein theory obtained from geometric symmetry breaking.
