The Kring and Boynton (1992) effort to strengthen the connection between the K/T boundary and the Chicxulub structure's reconstructed Y6N17 groundmass composition argues that this composition could not be easily produced by volcanism, and was probably formed by the same event as the Haiti glasses. The disparity between groundmass compositions and the Haiti glass suggest the importance of selective clast melting and alteration effects.
